Denpasar is the capital and the most populous city of Indonesia province of Bali. Situated on the island of Bali, it is known worldwide as a major tourist destination, the tourist also say that Denpasar is the main gateway to Bali.

The name of Denpasar etymologically comes from the Balinese word ‘Den’ means north and ‘Pasar’ means market. This name is come because Denpasar is originally located in the north of ‘Peken Payuk’ that now known as Kumbasari market.

Denpasar in the past was the capital of the kingdom of Badung. It was conquered by the Dutch during the Dutch intervention in Bali in 1906 and leaving today’s central square called ‘Taman Puputan’.

Now Denpasar encourage into the center of business activities and make this city as having the highest growth in Bali province. Denpasar also has a rapidly expanding population and this city also known as the center of education proved by a lot of well-known university located in Denpasar. Denpasar also known as the center of government since in Renon village there are so many government office like immigration office and Bali governor office or Jaya Sabha governor office.

Now talking about the climate, Denpasar has a tropical wet and dry climate with hot and humid weather throughout every year. The temperature are not extreme but the heat combined with the oppressive humidity and copious precipitation makes the climate very uncomfortable at times.

Moving on to the other topic which is the interesting places and interesting things in Denpasar.

Well as you probably know, Denpasar is the site where the famous Bali Arts Festival is held annually.

The other famous festival are Sanur Village Festival and Denpasar Festival. On Sanur Festival you can find a lot of water sport activities and adventure inspired by the Marine life which plays a vital role in daily life of the Balinese people.

Next is Denpasar Festival a.k.a Denfest that celebrates the creativity and cultural diversity of the city.

My dear friend, when we talk about the famous Bali Art Festival or PKB (Pesta Kesenian Bali), you should know about the Bali Art Center, a place that is usually used to held the Bali Art Festival.

Bali Art Center or Taman Werdhi Budaya is a building complex with the best style of Balinese traditional architecture.

The other famous place are Bajrasandhi Monument, Bali Museum, Jagatnatha Temple and Badung Traditional Market.

Bajrasandhi monument is a monument that was located at Puputan Margarana square right in the heart of the city. This monument was build as the commemoration of the Balinese people struggle against the Dutch colonials.

Bali museum is a museum that offers an informative introduction to all things about Balinese, both historical and modern way from all regencies in Bali. And on the northern boundary of Bali museum here lies the Jagatnatha temple, a temple that was build in 1953 dedicated to the Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa.

And the last is Badung traditional market, the biggest and the oldest traditional market among the other shopping center in Denpasar city. Badung traditional market sells almost everything that the local people needs for their dailies.
