Halo rekan pembaca sekalian, saya adalah mahasiswa 2A MBP PNB (Politeknik Negeri Bali) jurusan Pariwisata. Di blog ini, saya akan membagi semua pengalaman saya selama menjadi mahasiswa 2A MBP PNB Pariwisata. Nah status saya sebagai mahasiswa 2A MBP PNB Pariwisata tentunya membuat saya harus mempelajari segala hal mengenai dunia kepariwisataan.

Bajrasandhi monument was start to build in 1981 with the architect is Mr. Ir. Ida Bagus Gede Yadnya who won the architecture competition that was held by the government. The main idea to build this monument is come from Mr. Ida Bagus Mantra, our former governor.
This monument was built in 1987 that is inaugurated by the President of Indonesia at the time, Mrs. Megawati Soekarno Putri on June 14th 2003. The purpose of monument is to devote the soul and spirit of Balinese people struggle as well as digging, maintain, develop and preserve the Balinese culture to the future generation as a capital move forward and thread the world that is filled by challenges and obstacles.
Bajrasandhi monument is located in the center of Denpasar city right in front of Bali’s Governor Office. It is situated on Renon village, one of Denpasar district those easily accessed from any directions and close with other famous tourist destination in Denpasar such as Badung traditional market, Jagatnatha temple, Bali Art Centre, Bali Museum and Sanur Beach.
This monument contains 33 dioramas, describing the history of the prehistoric (300.000 BC) that the humans are still moving and highly depends on the nature until the independence era (1950-1975) when the development of Bali are covering all aspects, such as political, economic and social cultures. After knowing and understanding the course of history, soul and spirit of Balinese people struggle from time to time, can be expected to strengthen the culture identity and more over, the tourism in Bali was developed as a culture tourism so as not eroded by globalization forces.
The next information is about the philosophy of monument building
The appearance of building physical is steeped in the meaning of Hindu religion’s philosophy Lingga Yoni. Lingga Yoni philosophy itself is a masculine and feminine characteristic that will create fertile and prosperous condition.
The monument itself is a symbol of Lingga, meanwhile the base of the building is a symbol of Yoni. In addition to the Lingga Yoni, it was listed also in the playback story of the twiddling of Mandara Giri mount in the milk ocean and splattering Amerta (holy water) for the life of endless as according to nature of dynamic culture and stayed alive during the human being still dwell the earth planet. The story of Mandara Giri had been taken from Adi Parwa, an old manuscript in Bali.
From the monument building we can see :
1) Guci Amerta (Amerta Jar) is illustrated by a Basin (sort of pot) that look on the top of the monument
2) Basuki Dragon tail is firmed close to Swamba and it head a Kori Agung (Main Entrance Gate)
3) Bedawang Akupa’s body is realized on base of monument meanwhile Kori Agung as a head
4) Mandara Giri mount is realized with towering of monument
5) The fish pond surround the monument is describing as Ksirarnawa (the ocean milk)
The architecture is also symbolizing nationalism with 17 main gate, 8 pillars, and the height of the monument is about 45 meters. That is reflect, 17th August 1945, Indonesia Independence day.
The architecture of Bajrasandhi monument is also taking Tri Mandala concept, which means three Balinese building concept. The first concept is Nista Mandala as the outer part of the 1st floor where the office, library, exhibition room and the meeting room are located. Next is Madya Mandala as the middle part where on the 2nd floor you can find 33 dioramas and the last is Utama Mandala as the major part where the 3rd floor as a silent room where the visitors can do a meditation.
